Prenatal/Postpartum counseling can help women cope with stresses, fears, and sadness relating to pregnancy and childbirth. Women preparing for birth who have had a traumatic first birth (cesarean section, unexpected emergency, or other disturbing situation) or who have experienced past physical or sexual abuse may especially benefit from prenatal counseling. These counselors may include hypnotherapy, marriage and family counseling, or other types of visits or practitioner. Postpartum depression (PPD) can often be resolved with counselors trained in working with postpartum women.

| Pregnancy and motherhood don't always meet our expectations. There might be periods of elation but sometimes we may feel shame over not being able to enjoy the job. Pregnancy and caring for very young children can be highly stressful at times. It's a 24 hour job - with no bathroom breaks. But you are not alone. Counseling can be a great support for you. |
